What is SEO and what does it stand for?
From Wikipedia SEO means : Search engine optimization (SEO) is the process of improving the visibility of a website or a web page in search engines via the “natural” or un-paid (“organic” or “algorithmic”) search results.
What is Natural or Un-paid (Organic) Search Results? What is Paid links or Google Adwords?
Using Google search engine as an example, from every search results page: the left hand side (or middle of page) list of websites is called Organic Search Results. This is where websites are listed in order of relevancy to your typed in “keyword search”. These links are non-paid links to Google. However, there are times where you see “sponsored links” on the top of the organic search results. These links are highlighted and including the right hand side links are called paid or Google Adwords. This is where businesses or individuals subscribe to Google Adwords and pay/bid for rankings for their link to show up in these search results. Once again paid links are only shown when their Google Adwords account is setup properly to show their paid link on specific keywords that has been added to that particular ad.
SIMPLY PUT: Left hand side results are FREE links by Google and most of the time businesses use a SEO marketing consultant to help improve their website link rankings in Google’s organic search results and much more. The right hand side links are PAID links to Google by subscribing to Google Adwords.
